Abstract:
Skateboarding is not a sport. According to some of the biggest names in skateboarding, like Mark Appleyard and Frank Gerwer, skateboarding is not even an "extreme sport." I agree with jm. This article is pointless. The 'journalist' has clearly missed that the TV show in fact showed that skateboarding can make money. That it is not just a leisure but also a professional sport. And a very competitive sport at that. Just like surfing can be leisure or a sport.

After watching the show I felt encouraged to get my dusty skateboard out of the garage and skate around. Probably showed alot of people that skateboarding is not dead and there is alot of popularity in it.

Guarantee you this article was written by someone in the mid 40s or early 50s and has no real idea about the sport let alone the current trend. Yes skating can make you money and can be competitive. Is that really such a bad thing. Have you ever watched a sports game before?
